How to Select Your Own Palette of Healthy Foods?
In today’s world we are all very confused when choosing the best food choices or “diets” for healthy eating and for the weight loss. Which one is the best? How to choose one? Should i go to low carb high protein diet or should i do other way around? We have tons of those fad diets out there but the question is “Do they really work on a long run”?
Well they might work for a certain period of time (1 month, 2 or 3 months) but the real question here is what will happen when you will go back to your normal eating routine? What will happen to your body? There is a lot of chances you will mostly likely gain all this weight back.
Restrictive diets work very rarely. But why? Simple answer is right here: Because they are restrictive and our bodies and mind don’t like the restrictive ideas. We just hate the fact we can’t have something.
Have you ever experienced the feeling of craving for a food, which was forbidden to eat? Our minds usually want what we can’t have. And once your torturous strict diet, usually with very low carbs, is over, you will jump on those forbidden foods and “jojo” effect will kick in. The cycle of losing and gaining fat will go on and on.
The best and the only long term success is to adopt a healthy life style with good and sustainable food choices and stick to those choices for the rest of your life. But what kind of food should i choose? No one really likes the idea that somebody else chooses the food for us because everyone has its own way of living, our taste buds crave different tastes, textures. Even the food color and how you cook and display your final dishes makes a big difference. We are very sensitive in this sense. At least i am.
So how to select your own palette of a healthy foods?
My advice is always to choose the foods that you really enjoy eating and they are healthy at the same time. So make a little plan. Sit down with a paper and a pen and just write down the foods that you love. The only rule here is THEY MUST BE ON A HEALTHY SIDE. Here is no room for a junk food.
Put all your favorite healthy foods into categories such as:
- Proteins
- Healthy Carbs
- Healthy Fats
- Favorite Fruits
- Favorite Veggies
- Favorite Spices
- Favorite Drinks
- Supplements
